1.

Colorado Avalanche - Nathan MacKinnon (C)
NHL COMPARISON: Taylor Hall + Tyler Seguin
SKINNY: Joe's pick, Patrick's pick, Rick's pick, Colorado's pick.
2.

Florida Panthers - Seth Jones (D)
NHL COMPARISON: Keith Yandle + Alex Pietrangelo
SKINNY: Might not be a generational player, but will be the Panthers franchise defensemen.
3.

Tampa Bay Lightning - Jonathan Drouin (LW)
NHL COMPARISON: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins + Patrick Kane
SKINNY: Martin St-Louis replacement might become even better than him.
4.

Nashville Predators - Aleksander Barkov Jr (C)
NHL COMPARISON: Joe Thornton
SKINNY: Big Finnish Ogre will instantly become the organization's franchise forward.
5.

Carolina Hurricanes - Sean Monahan (C)
NHL COMPARISON: Jonathan Toews-lite
SKINNY: If Carolina keeps their pick, Monahan will be Rutherford's typical choice.

6.

Calgary Flames - Elias Lindholm (C)
NHL COMPARISON: Peter Forsberg-lite
SKINNY: Praised as the best Swedish prospect since Backstrom, he will be a great player to build around for the desperate Flames.
7.
Edmonton Oilers - Valeri Nichushkin (RW)
NHL COMPARISON: Rick Nash
SKINNY: Nail Yakupov will find his countryman on the same line and this might be very scary for the opponents.
8.
Buffalo Sabres - Rasmus Ristolainen (D)
NHL COMPARISON: Jay Bouwmeester
SKINNY: After retooling in front last year, the Sabres are going with big, strong and fluid finnish product.
9.
New Jersey Devils - Max Domi (C)
NHL COMPARISON: Zach Parise
SKINNY: No doubt Max Domi will bring back excitement up front for the Devils since their ex-franchise player has left to Minnesota.

NHL COMPARISON: Phil Kessel
SKINNY: Shinkaruk is exactly what the Coyotes are desperately in need for, OFFENSE.
13.
Winnipeg Jets - Curtis Lazar (C)
NHL COMPARISON: Patrice Bergeron
SKINNY: Lazar might be the most clutch prospect of all, outside of MacKinnon. He breathes and live for hockey. Great athlete.
14.
Columbus Blue Jackets - Bo Horvat (C)
NHL COMPARISON: Mike Richards/David Backes
SKINNY: Horvat's stock has risen greatly due to his performance during the OHL playoffs and the Memorial Cup.
15.
NY Islanders - Zachary Fucale (G)
NHL COMPARISON: Cam Ward
SKINNY: Best technical goalie prospect since forever. His calmness and work ethic will make him a surefire top NHLer.
16*.
Buffalo Sabres - Alexander Wennberg (C)

SKINNY: Wennberg's 2-way game is amongst the top of the draft class. He will fit perfectly in the rebuilding of the Sabres.
17.
Ottawa Senators - Ryan Hartman (RW)
NHL COMPARISON: Ryan Callahan
SKINNY: Well, Ryan is Ryan. Hartman is pesky, gritty, and skilled. Something Ottawa is trying to become.
18.
Detroit Red Wings - Nikita Zadorov (D)
NHL COMPARISON: Victor Hedman
SKINNY: Zadorov did not fare well at the Memorial Cup, but his potential and skating alone makes him a top end prospect.
19*.

NHL COMPARISON: Tyler Myers
SKINNY: Just like Zadorov, Morin is a towering defensemen whose potential is unlimited. Plus, his knockout punches are pretty devastating.
20.
San Jose Sharks - Anthony Mantha (LW)

SKINNY: It's boom or bust for Mantha. He might become a prolific scorer in the NHL, or become a similar player as Benoit Pouliot.
21.
Toronto Maple Leafs - Kerby Rychel (LW)
NHL COMPARISON: Andrew Ladd
SKINNY: TML will be ecstatic to add Rychel to their lineup. He has size and scoring instinct.
22*.
Calgary Flames - Ryan Pulock (D)
NHL COMPARISON: Keith Yandle
SKINNY: After picking their franchise forward, they might find their eventual top 2 defensemen with this Manitoban kid.
23.
Washington Capitals - André Burakosvky (LW/RW)
NHL COMPARISON: Alex Semin
SKINNY: Well, to make up for his mistake, Georges McPhee has the chance to draft another high end Swedish winger this year. Let's hope this one stays a little bit longer in the Capital.
24.
Vancouver Canucks - Frédérik Gauthier (C)
NHL COMPARISON: Jordan Staal
SKINNY: New coach Tortorella will have the pleasure to use Gauthier in any situation in the future.
25.
Montreal Canadiens - Adam Erne (RW)
NHL COMPARISON: Max Pacioretty
SKINNY: Losing on Gauthier just by 1 pick, Montreal will be thrilled to have another Pacioretty type of player in the system.
26.
Anaheim Ducks - Mirco Müeller (D)
NHL COMPARISON: Dan Hamhuis
SKINNY: Müeller is a great surprise coming out of Everett this year and he plays a responsable game just like his former teammate Ryan Murray.
27*.

NHL COMPARISON: Johan Franzen
SKINNY: CHL Rookie of the Year will bring scoring touch to the rebuilding Jackets.
28*.
Calgary Flames - Morgan Klimchuk (LW)
NHL COMPARISON: Patrick Sharp
SKINNY: Klimchuk is pretty underrated but the Flames future with Lindholm, Pulock and Klimchuk is looking pretty good.
29*.
Dallas Stars - Émile Poirier (LW)
NHL COMPARISON: Alex Tanguay
SKINNY: Another revelation from the QMJHL, Poirier's stock has risen so much in the 2nd half of the season and throughout the playoffs.
30.
Chicago Blackhawks - Madison Bowey (D)
NHL COMPARISON: Brent Seabrook
SKINNY: Madison Bowey's NHL potential looks pretty much like now 2-times Stanley Cup Champion and Olympic Gold Medal champion Brent Seabrook.

Nathan MacKinnon vs Seth Jones Tribute

  1. "ll restrict my comment's to the comparative skating abilities of the NHL comparisons that you proffer:

Bowey's a much better skater than Seabrook. One of Bowey's strengths is his mobility. Seabrook's greatest weakness is his lack of mobility.

Poirier is a much more dynamic skater than Tanguay.

The only similarities between Erne and Pacioretty is that there both Americans.

Jordan Stall is a much more fluid skater than Gauthier, whose heavy feet will always hold him back.

Burakovsky is much better skater than Semin. If you want a better comparison it would be to Burmistrov of the Jets.

Yandle is a much better skater than Pulock who is one of the weakest skaters of the players projected to go in the top 40.

Bouwmeester is one of the elite skaters in the NHL. While Rasmus Ristolainen is a smooth skater, he is not, nor will he ever be, in Bouwmeester's class a skater.

Valeri Nichushkin is a much more dynamic skater than Nash.

Sean Monahan is not, nor will ever be in Toews class as a skater or player. The closest comparison is to Travis Zajac.

Drouin, while a great player, cannot skate like Kane.

The best comparison for MacKinnon is Peter Bondra.
